| dcterms.abstract | La actualidad del tema no se explica solamente por la conciencia de la difusión del fenómeno de la angustia —moral y mórbida— en el mundo contemporáneo en razón de las situaciones por las que atraviesa la sociedad de nuestro tiempo. Hay otros factores: los progresos de la neurología, los intereses terapéuticos en relación con el tratamiento de las neurosis, que han estimulado la investigación del fenómeno y la elaboración de teorías encaminadas a explicar su génesis. No faltan los intereses filosóficos: la función descubridora que la filosofía existencia- lista atribuye a la angustia a la que considera fecunda vía de acceso a la realidad, reveladora de aspectos inaccesibles por otros métodos. La complejidad del fenómeno ha estimulado los intentos de descripción desde diferentes ángulos: científico natural, psicológico, psicoana- lítico, filosófico, y su exploración a distintos niveles: vital, psíquico, histórico, existencial, metafísico. Las diferencias de enfoque no anulan las coincidencias de los resultados. Por su índole, la mayoría concuerda en señalar que la angustia es una determinación inherente al hombre en cuanto tal, y sólo excepcionalmente un hecho patológico; no es una imperfección, sino un rasgo positivo vinculado al espíritu y a la libertad. Se resiste a su traducción en conceptos dado que se presenta siempre como ambigua: oprime y cautiva, atrae y repele. Se la ha definido como el vértigo de la libertad y se la asocia estrechamente al tiempo en la dimensión del futuro. | es |
| dcterms.abstract | Current interest on ¿his subject is not aroused only by the awareness oí the diffused phenomenon of dread —either normal or morbid— in pre- sent-day society as a result of the situations it faces. There are other reasons as well: the progress of neurology and the concern of therapeu- tics with the treatement of neurosis have led to the study of this phenomenon and the introduction of theories to account for its appearance. There is also a philosophical interest in the problem —dread is endowed with a discovering power by existentialism, and so considered as a pro- fitable way af grasping reality because it discloses what cannot be re- vealed through other methods. The complexity of this phen'omenon has encouraged attempts to dés- cribé it frórri différent añgles —scientific, psychólbgicál, psychóánaíytic, philosophical—, and to examine it at various levels —vital, psychic, histo- rical, existential and metaphisical. A common outcome is not impaired by these distinct approaches. There is a general agreement in stating that dread is by nature an inhe- rent feature in man, which only exceptionally should be considered as a pathological fact. Accordingly, we are not confronted with the lack of something, but with a positive trait related to spirit and freedom. Dread cannot be expressed in the language of concepts because its nature is always ambigous: at the same time it oppresses and captivates, it both attacts and repels.
