Se hace referencia al hallazgo en Mar del Plata de Limnoria (Limnoria) tripunctata Menzies, 1951, nueva cita para la isopodofauna argentina. Queda así notablemente ampliada el área de distribución de esta especie, cuyo registro más austral en Sud América es Carúpano, Venezuela. Se incluye además una redescripción de la especie y algunas observaciones preliminares sobre ciertos aspectos de su biología.

Limnorid isopods along South American coasts are scarcely known. The present paper is one of a series that deals with the study of boring organisms of the argentine coasts. For the first time Limnoria (Limnoria) Tripunctata Meneies, 1951 is mentioned for argentine waters (Mar del Plata's harbour),thus extending the geographical distribution of this species farther South in the Atlantic Ocean. This species is redescribed and illustrated, including some appendages not considered by earlier authors. A brief history of the knowledge of this family in South America is mentioned. Some preliminary aspects of its reproductive cycle in relation with water temperature is also considered.
